motoguo returns this season with a romantic and cosmic meditation on a love tale that transcends all spiritual boundaries. SS22 is a textured experience that narrates a romantic symphony through the persona of a phantom draped in white sheets stuck in purgatory.
The collection takes an introspective discovery into an intellectual terrain filled with beer and skittles as the duo once again grapples with the grand theme of love. With the tender idea of passion being the nexus of the label ever since it’s inception, this season embraces the abstraction of an everlasting bond that is immune to the feeble mortality of the human body. A sensation so strong that it extends beyond the realm of our reality. “In the sorrow of death is the proof of love, it grows in the absence of a hug, a kiss or a gentle caress”
The face behind this lingering white sheet is none other than the label itself, constantly searching for a medium to convey its message. From the conceptual visuals to notes of scent in every package, every detail is a love message to the world. Dynamically harmonizing cinematic influences from A Ghost Story 2017, Hausu 1977, Ghost 1990 and radiant 70’s psychedelic visuals, the label grinds these contrasting references into a fine dust to make their own paste out of it. Elements of surprise are sprinkled in the choices of materials and styling vision to construe the layers of a cloyingly cliché love.
SS22 is a display of the label’s core aesthetic of mining for awe through their witty and whimsical approach as it clashes beautifully with the grandiosity of a “horror spectral” variation.
